A New Wolsey Young Company Production
How To Disappear Completely And Never Be Found

By Fin Kennedy
Directed by Rob Salmon

“What makes you who you are? A name? An address? A random collection of experiences, a few memories? You are who you can prove you are. You are what people think. And that’s the easiest thing in the world to change.”

When a young executive reaches breaking point and decides to disappear, he pays a visit to a master of the craft in a seafront fortune teller’s in Southend. Haunted by visitations from a pathologist who swears he is already lying flat out on her slab, he begins to re-live the nightmarish final hours that see his body retrieved from the Thames, stripped of everything that made him who he was.

This extraordinary play follows one man’s desperate attempts to buck the system, and asks what really makes us who we are in the 21st century.

Strong themes and moderate language make this play suitable for audiences aged 14+

A Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds Production

A delightful stage version of Jane Austen’s earliest novel

Catherine Morland loves a good novel and the more ‘horrid’ it is the better.

At 17, she is taken by her aunt to Bath where she encounters the social whirl denied her at home. When Catherine accepts an invitation to the Tilney’s country seat at Northanger Abbey, lurid images from her favourite gothic novel Mysteries of Udolpho threaten to overwhelm her. However, all misunderstandings are eventually resolved and, as in all the best Jane Austen novels, the young heroine finally gets her man…

Adapted by acclaimed Austen specialist Tim Luscombe, whose Mansfield Park was also produced and toured by the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

A few more details ...

An uplifting show about friendship

One day whilst Girl is playing in her garden, she spots something peculiar on the other side of the fence. Climbing up as high as she can to get a better view, she is surprised when she comes face to face with... Giraffe!

As their friendship grows, Girl discovers that Giraffe isn't very well. She tries everything she can to make him feel a bit better; putting on bandages, making a cup of tea, and even baking a truly magnificent cake, but she doesn't get it quite right. Girl soon realises that Giraffe doesn't need a plaster for a graze on his arm or a scratch on his knee. Giraffe is sad. Sometimes we need a different kind of plaster for the things you can't always see.

Charming puppetry, an enchanting soundscape and beautiful storytelling combine in this sensitive show about wellbeing and friendship, told from a child's perspective.

PEOPLE YOU MAY KNOW PRESENT…
A SCRATCH PERFORMANCE OF A NEW PLAY BY AWARD WINNING PLAYWRIGHT JOSH OVERTON
DIRECTED BY ROB SALMON

Young people used to be something we were proud of, bright young things packed full of ambition. They were the future and we wanted them to flourish, but look at them now. Porn addicts and voteless Corbinites the lot of them, desperate to prove their worth but too lazy to put the effort in to succeed. It’s time we said it, young people are rubbish now. It’s in the Daily Mail so it must be true.

Two young people from the multi award nominated People You May Know set out to ask a few questions about what it is that irritates society so much about the shift from adolescent to adult, and what they can do to help!

Strong content throughout makes this performance unsuitable for young people under the age of 14.

New Wolsey Theatre, Civic Drive, Ipswich, IP1 2AS

A few more details ...

The New Wolsey Theatre, Salisbury Playhouse and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch by arrangement with Fiery Angel Limited, London presents

The Classic Ealing Comedy on a new Regional Tour.

When Mrs Wilberforce puts a sign in her newsagent’s window advertising ‘A Room to Let’, she’s delighted when the mysterious Professor Marcus proclaims it perfect for rehearsing his unorthodox string quintet. She soon discovers that she is not making tea for a motley band of musicians, but harbouring a hardened gang of criminals and conmen planning the great Kings Cross Train Robbery!

Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd) has adapted this much-loved film for the stage, mixing madcap comedy and criminal capers to hilarious effect. As his masterplan goes off the rails, and the bodies drop onto them, it begins to dawn on the Professor that, in Mrs Wilberforce (and General Gordon, her extraordinary featherless parrot) he may have finally met his match.

From the motion picture screenplay by William Rose by special arrangement with Studiocanal and by special arrangement with Fiery Angel Ltd, London

A New Wolsey Theatre Production

A Brand New Punk Musical
By Paul Sirett, Mike Peters & Steve Allan Jones

When a routine check-up leads to a startling diagnosis, Andy decides it’s time to put the band back together, to crank up the amps, and party like its 1978! Why not re-form the legendary Oxy & the Morons, who burned fiercely before exploding in a riot of rivalry, jealousy and bitter betrayal? Andy’s mission involves twisting arms, healing wounds and putting his family and friendships back together. But can that punk spirit of DIY defiance be-rekindled over thirty years later? Can you still pogo when your knees go? Will they play their trademark punk take of It’s Not Unusual as an encore?

This brand new musical is fast, furious and very funny. Written by Paul Sirett (Reasons to be Cheerful, Mods and Rox), Mike Peters (The Alarm) and Steve Allan Jones, with a machine gun playlist of original songs, this affectionate look back at the days of teen spirit suggest we could all do with some of that garage band power right now.
