Theatre in Education Schools Tour

The show runs for about 50–60 minutes, and the company will need 1.5 hours before and 45 minutes after the performance to set up and pack away. When planning, please make sure the space can be kept free of other activities for the full duration.

We suggest up to 90 young people per performance.

A hall is best for the performance; however, please consider the acoustics of the space. If you have seating, please ensure this is arranged ahead of time, leaving approximately 6m x 6m space for the set. The set size cannot be reduced so please ensure that the planned number of students and staff will fit comfortably and safely in the remaining space.

This show takes place on the floor, so please make sure that any seating is arranged in such a way that the audience will all be able to see (I.e, rows of benches all at the same level will make it difficult for anyone not in the first few rows to see the stage). Please let us know when applying if you are planning to put the performance on a stage.

From 19 December, prices will rise to £300 + VAT for one performance and £500 + VAT for two consecutive performances.

• The performance contains pre recorded music and will need access to one 13 amp plug socket located near the performance area. All New Wolsey Theatre equipment will be PAT tested
• The show and cast will arrive in the New Wolsey van. Because there will be lots of kit to unload, we will need somewhere as close as possible to the performance space for the van to park
• The company will need need a private space and access to a staff toilet so the actors can get changed and have a quiet space directly before the performance

Workshops
Our workshops give young people the chance to work with professional arts practitioners in fun, creative sessions that explore the themes of the play while supporting a range of areas within the KS1 curriculum.

‘Making Good Choices’

An introduction to basic drama skills whilst exploring the important theme of “making good choices.”

Through fun and engaging drama exercises, students will develop their confidence, creativity, communication and collaborative skills. They will have opportunities to listen and respond to others, express their ideas and opinions and participate in role play. This workshop will support the teaching of English, including the Spoken Language objectives.

Let’s explore ‘Oh No, George!’

A practical workshop exploring the story of Oh No, George! through a range of drama exercises and activities.

Children will have the opportunity to bring the story to life through, movement, and improvisation. The workshop will encourage the children to develop their speaking and listening skills, use their imagination and respond creatively to the story.

The workshop will support the teaching of the English curriculum through opportunities for children to participate in discussions, character exploration and storytelling.

We are also happy to design bespoke workshops to meet the specific needs of your school, including those linked to your school development plan.

Cost

1-hour workshop – £80 + VAT
Rates are negotiable for multiple workshops delivered within the same school.

Workshop requirements

• A maximum of 30 children in a group who are supported by their class teacher.
• We need a clear space either a school hall or a classroom cleared of tables and chairs so the group can move around the space freely.
• Ideally the workshops will take place after the children have watched the performance.
