A fast and vibrant reimagining of Herman Melville's classic, featuring sea shanties played live on stage

October, 1839. The Pequod is due to sail out of Nantucket and her skipper, the notorious Captain Ahab, is in need of a crew. Seeking fortune and adventure, humble schoolmaster Ishmael ships aboard, joining a company charged with one task: to wreak revenge on the white whale that lost Ahab his leg – the infamous Moby Dick.

The spirit and atmosphere of Herman Melville’s masterpiece – romantic, ambiguous, and rich with allegory – is gloriously captured on stage by the award-winning ensemble Simple8.

SI CRANSTOUN is a fabulous throwback to the old swing blues shouters of the 1940’s & 1950’s.

A prolific bandleader and songwriter with dancefloor hits “Dynamo & Coupe De Ville” and a chart hit “Kiss on the Lips” which have remained favourites on the vintage scene for over a decade.

People have compared him to many old greats like Jackie Wilson and Wynonie Harris but Si remains his own man with his distinct voice and repertoire.

So with Si’s ‘super happy’ charisma and stage presence everyone is guaranteed a joyful show tailored for their dancing feet and listening pleasure.

With an unparalleled reputation across the UK, Europe and beyond, for over 50 years the Pasadena Roof Orchestra have been recreating the sounds of a golden era of music from the 1920s and 1930s.

In this beautifully crafted new concert for 2024, the orchestra take to the stage with a sparkling selection of their best-loved music and songs. Expect to hear classics from the pens of Irving Berlin, Ray Noble and Cole Porter, as well as electrifying hot jazz from Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington.

Presenting the show, and putting on his top hat and tails, is the suave singer and bandleader Duncan Galloway. So pack up your troubles, come on get happy, and experience an evening of superlative live music with more than a dash of wit and humour.
