LIVESTREAM FAQ's

Livestreaming lets you visit our theatre virtually! We have cameras in our auditorium so that you’ll be able to watch the show live along with the audience in the theatre. It’s like watching videos on YouTube or Netflix, but it’s happening right there and then, wherever you are in the world!

You can join in all the fun from the comfort and safety of your own home. Just buy a ticket for the live-streamed show and watch on your PC, Laptop, Tablet, Smart TV or even your phone. When you book your ticket on our website, you’ll be asked to create an account (if you don’t already have one) so you can log in later to watch the show. You will then receive a link in your confirmation email, to use on the day of the show – just follow the instructions on the email up to 30 minutes before the show starts and you’ll be taken directly to the page for the performance you’ll be watching.

Yes – just log in to your New Wolsey Account and select ‘credit’ when you get to the payment options.

You’re watching the same show as everyone else in the theatre, but because of the cameras you’ll probably have an even better view! Depending on the show you’re watching there may be some direct references to the cameras (most likely in our pantomime) so you can feel even more included.

There may also be some extra content for you to enjoy before the performance starts, and sometimes during the interval or at the end of the performance too.

For more information about extra content please contact a member of our Box Office team.

All of our livestreams have a number of accessible options available. You can switch between them at any time using the buttons underneath the video window.

Options can include:
– Audio Description
– Captioning
– British Sign Language Interpretation

For more details on which options are available for an individual show or performance, please contact the Box Office team.

Because everyone will have different technology in their homes it’s not possible for us to provide a technical guide for all scenarios. However, there are many excellent guides available online. We recommend trying out your link as soon as you can (you’ll receive this in your confirmation email) so you’ll know you’ve cracked it in advance.
The best way to watch our livestreams will be on your TV, so make sure you have an HDMI cable to hand as this is often the best way to connect your laptop to your TV. (Some Smart TVs also have browsers built in, but we often find they struggle to keep up, so recommend a laptop connection if you can!)
If you’re really struggling, give our Box Office team a call and they’ll try to help you with some general tips, but again, we aren’t able to give specific technical support.
We’ve found some useful guides online for you here – but you may need to search for the instructions relating to your particular equipment.

What a lovely idea! The easiest way to do this is to purchase a New Wolsey gift voucher and send this to the recipient’s email address. They can then use this voucher to purchase a ticket for the livestream.

If you would like to purchase a ticket for somebody else using your own New Wolsey account, you will have to buy them a ticket too – our system will then recognise that you have two passes to the show on your account.

IMPORTANT: You will then have to give them your login details and send them the confirmation email so they can also access and log in to the link to the performance.

Emails tend to hide in junk boxes so check them first. If you haven’t received the link 24 hours before the show (or can’t find it), just contact us on 01473 295900 or email tickets@wolseytheatre.co.uk and we’ll send it again.

Yes. Your ticket is for that specific performance and time, the broadcast shows you what’s happening in the theatre live as it happens, if you’re not there at the time you won’t get to see it later.

Wow – you are so generous, thank you. We are grateful for every donation we receive. The more you give, the more we can do for you and for the local community. Just go to the donation box at the bottom of our website home page or give us a call on 01473 295900 to donate over the phone. Alternatively, you can send a cheque to New Wolsey Theatre, Civic Drive, Ipswich IP1 2AS. We promise to spend every penny wisely.

We will contact you by email to ask for your feedback directly. You can also share your experience publicly on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

You can simply go online and buy another ticket. Each show will be live, so there will be differences in every performance – especially when it comes to the unpredictable fun of a Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto!

Covid Safety

We have rigorous processes in place, including enhanced cleaning, staff training, separated auditorium seating, one-way system, temperature checks and more. We meet the Government standards for venue safety and have a ‘See It Safely’ accreditation. We’ve made a video to explain all that we’re doing – check it out here (British Sign Language interpreted version available here).

Approximately 150 – there is slight variation depending on booking patterns.

The actors are staying together in their own separate bubble. They are following our procedures daily to ensure they are protected. We will be testing actors for Covid-19 before rehearsals start and before production starts. Inside the theatre, the actors’ areas are separate from other staff areas.

Crew are also forming their own bubble and will be tested prior to rehearsal and production processes commence. They will also be following all the daily Covid-19 safety procedures. Other staff will be separated from cast and crew and following the same safety procedures.

We will fully co-operate with the Government guidance on this situation, should it arise. As there are many variations to this scenario we can’t give a blanket answer, but be assured we have our very own Captain Covid and he’s on top of all the latest news and guidance as it comes out. Lucky him!

We had overwhelmingly positive feedback about our Covid safety measures in December and we’re working really hard once again to make sure you can be confident in returning to our venue. We have devised a special Covid plan just for schools so you can see the measures we are putting in place to keep you safe, which you can find here. If you have any questions at all about our Covid measures, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by calling 01473 295900 or by emailing tickets@wolseytheatre.co.uk.
