Wolsey Writers Workshops
A day of creative writing in NW2.
Write the Beginning: A Very Good Place to Start (Saturday 29 March)
What makes a first page compelling? How much exposition is enough? (Or, for that matter, too much?) Should the opening scene be descriptive or have momentum . . .? This workshop will explore the craft of narrative beginnings. Our day will include supportive tips to help newer writers overcome the anxiety of starting a project; and intermediate writers with a WIP will have an opportunity to refresh their current draft.
Wolsey Writers one-day workshops are led by Katie Ward, an award-winning author from Suffolk. Every session (10:30am-3:45pm) includes a deep dive into our topic, tools and techniques to improve your creative practice, and dedicated time for your own writing or WIP.
‘It was brilliant – I can’t remember a better writing class.’
‘Katie is a wonderful teacher – encouraging and enabling.’
‘I learned so much and have discovered some new directions to follow.’
Suitable for adults (beginner to intermediate levels) and young people age 16+ with a commitment to creative writing. Check socials for updates: Instagram @wolseywriters; Twitter/X @WolseyWriters; Facebook @katiewardwriter.
Doors open 10am for 10:30am start. Drinks and snacks will be available from New Wolsey Café or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch. Writers entitled to concessions do not need to provide evidence when booking: please self-select your ticket.
