Tell Your Story is our social prescribing, creative health project for adults with complex health needs.

The project is produced by the New Wolsey Theatre’s Creative Communities team and delivered by a team of highly-skilled, socially engaged artists and practitioners. We work with participants over 10-12 sessions, providing a playful, supportive, and safe environment, to allow them to learn and develop skills in a variety of art forms. Towards the end of the programme, participants are encouraged to explore their new skills to create work for exhibition that offers insight into, and celebrates, their personal journey, from the struggles to their aspirations.

Since January 2023, we have delivered three Tell Your Story programmes, funded by NHS Suffolk and North East Essex . We have had the privilege of working with the following artists:

Gillian Allard – professional photographer and winner of Master of Photography 2017. Gillian is a qualified teacher and now specialises in leading photo-based community arts projects.

Dean ParkinDubbed ’Suffolk’s unofficial Poet Laureate’ by BBC Radio Suffolk, Dean Parkin has published poetry for adults and children and has delivered writing workshops for people of all ages from primary school children to the over nineties.

Sarah Nkugwa – Contemporary printmaker, graphic designer and educator, whose multi-disciplinary practice spans across drawing, printmaking and collage.
