The New Wolsey Theatre and Eastern Angles are looking for a Sound Designer & Composer for 'Teechers,' their upcoming Autumn 2025 touring co-production.
A creative and collaborative Sound Designer with the ability to compose for our 2025 Autumn Tour Teechers by John Godber. We are looking for someone with previous experience as a Sound Designer and Composer with a practical portfolio.
Teechers is a co-production between New Wolsey Theatre and Eastern Angles.
Performances at the New Wolsey Theatre – 25th September – 2nd October, then touring the East of England until 25th October.
Job Description
The Sound Designer will conceive and oversee the delivery of the sound design for Teechers. Duties include:
- To design and deliver the sound design for the production
- To collaborate with the production team to meet access requirements of the company
- To create any sound effects
- To manage the sound budget, in consultation with the Production Manager
- To attend and contribute to pre-production meetings and production meetings during rehearsals, in person wherever possible
- To meet and liaise with the production’s creative team and the theatre’s staff to ascertain and deliver the sound design; identifying the best use of the theatre’s in-house sound equipment
- To work to the aims of the Theatre Greenbook and provide data as required
- The specification, design and overseeing the fit up of the sound system
- To ensure the design is effectively programmed, operated and maintained.
We are looking for a collaborative candidate with proven Sound Designer experience. A strong understanding of QLab is required.
Key Dates & How to Apply
Rehearsals begin on Monday 1st September 2025, with tech week from Monday 22nd September. The first performance is on Thursday 25th September and the final performance is on Saturday 25th October 2025.
