Eastern Angles and the New Wolsey Theatre are looking for three actors for 'Teechers,' their upcoming Autumn 2025 touring co-production.

This production will be directed by Eastern Angles Artistic Director Jake Smith (Stones In His Pockets & The Deep).

Workshop-style auditions will take place at the Eastern Angles Centre in Ipswich on Tuesday 29th July and Wednesday 30th July.

About the show:

Join Gail, Hobby and Salty as they present their hilarious end-of-term play and tell the tale of their new drama teacher’s progress at their chaotic school. After two terms of rowdy students, downtrodden colleagues and a system on the brink, will this idealistic teacher be swayed by the calmer waters of a local private school?

Written by John Godber, this high energy comedy is a modern theatre classic with a punchy political message about the state of our country’s education system.

The characters:

Ian “Salty” Salt –  A school leaver, bright and fresh-faced, rather dirty appearance. Also plays Teacher B, Jeff Nixon, Pete Saxon, Oggy Moxon, Derek Basford, Mr Hatton and Deanie. Playing age: 16

Lillian “Hobby” Hobson – Shy. Also plays Mrs Cordelia Parry, Ms Jones, Mr Basford, Ron Simon “Piggy” Patterson, Oggy Moxon and Mrs Clifton. Playing age: 16

Gail Saunders – Loudmouth, bossy and full of enthusiasm. Also plays Teacher A, Mrs Maureen Whitham, Oggy Moxon, Mr Basford, Miss Prime, Barry Wobschall, Dennis, Doug and Mrs Coates. Playing age: 16
