Discover how to craft the perfect opening for your young adult novel in this interactive workshop.
Hosted by Dr. Lindsey Scott & Dr. Darragh Martin, University of Suffolk
How do we begin a children’s novel? What writing techniques help us create engaging characters and a compelling hook that keeps young readers turning the pages? Literary agents and publishers often look closely at first chapters – so what are they looking for, and how can we get it right?
This workshop focuses on crafting the opening of a middle grade or young adult novel. Through writing exercises and discussion, you’ll explore character, plot and setting, while beginning to develop your own ideas on the page.
Please note: this event takes place at St. Clement’s Art Centre (Fore St, Ipswich IP4 1JZ).
