Episode 25: Doug Rintoul on dark comedy play – DNA, and emerging talent from the region

12 Jan 2023

Douglas Rintoul talks about the black comedy with a dark heart – DNA (written by Dennis Kelly) – or as The Guardian quotes  “sharp shocker of a play cleverly piles on the twists, as guilt and madness work their poison on group dynamics”.

Listen to Doug’s fascinating views on this explosive play and how he is about to create a gripping show which hits the New Wolsey Stage from 2 – 9 Feb 2023.

He says:
“DNA is a special project for the New Wolsey Theatre, it’s my first production as Chief Executive/Artistic Director, it’s a rare outing of this top-notch play from one of our greatest writers, but more importantly it celebrates the best of East Anglia’s emerging talent. If a regional theatre doesn’t support the growth of its local ecology then it will see the loss of more talent from the industry, now more than ever.”

DNA runs from 2 – 9 February 2023 – New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich
