OTHELLO is one of Shakespeare’s most startlingly contemporary plays. English Touring Opera return to Ipswich on Tue 20 Oct to Sat 3 November with their masterful depiction of a life torn apart by prejudice.

Bryony Lavery’s adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel THE LOVELY BONES opens on Tue 13 to Sat 17 November, in a co-production by Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Royal & Derngate and Northern Stage in Association with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse.  The main character, Susie Salmon, is young and beautiful and has a crush on a boy from school. There’s only one big difference – Susie is dead.

STILL NO IDEA on Mon 24 to Tue 25 September is part verbatim theatre, part-improv, part-comedy sketch show. Packed with raucous and mischievous fun, this exposé of good intentions gone bad is also an adventure story about how we can’t imagine some people having an adventure.  Featuring LISA Hammond and Rachael Spence in Association with Improbable.

On Wed 26 to Thu 27 September, Lipservice presents WITHERING LOOKS,  a humorously authentic insight into the lives and works of those three Bronte sisters (well, two of them actually; Anne’s just popped out for a cup of sugar…).

Aria Entertainment in Association with Guy James present THE RETURN OF THE SOLDIER on Mon 1 to Sat 6 October.  With music by Charles Miller Book and Tim Sanders’ lyrics, this is an intensely bitter-sweet tale that dissects the very different love of three women for one man.

Alan Bennett is one Britain’s greatest and most loved playwrights, with stage and screen blockbusters including The History Boys and The Lady in the Van.  His play THE HABIT OF ART opens on Mon 8 to Sat 13 October in a production by The Original Theatre Company and York Theatre Royal, Directed by Philip Franks and starring Matthew Kelly and David Yelland.

Following critical acclaim for The Wipers Times, Nick Newman and Private Eye editor Ian Hislop have once again taken inspiration from real life events for their new satirical play TRIAL BY LAUGHTER on Mon 5 to Sat 10 November.

Let’s get it on with Don’t Stop the Beat Productions’ AN EVENING WITH MARVIN GAYE on Sun 23 September, featuring the velvet falsetto of Wayne Hernandez as Marvin Gaye, incredible harmonies and infectious energy from Wayne’s band.  Guaranteed to get you moving!

1950’s UK comedy icon Norman Wisdom won the hearts of millions of fans. Portraying thirty characters in this tour de force performance, Jack Lane takes you on an emotional roller coaster on Sun 7 October in WISDOM OF A FOOL.

On Sun 14 October the soul, funk and jazz legends SHAKATAK return to the New Wolsey Theatre following their unforgettable performance in 2012, presented by Stephen Foster.

For the very best of stand-up comedy talent, be sure to catch DUKE’s COMEDY CLUB on Sat 20 October.
