The New Wolsey Theatre makes an extraordinary contribution to the English courses at the University of Suffolk by offering the annual New Wolsey Theatre Scriptwriting Award.
The prize began in 2015 and is presented to a winning student for an outstanding original short script, produced on the third-year undergraduate module, Writing for Performance: Film, Theatre, Television.
Each year, professionals from the theatre’s artistic team work in partnership with course lecturers to choose shortlisted entries and the winning script. This year, students will see their scripts performed at the theatre and members of the audience will be invited to choose the winning script.
Join us to see the newest writers in the region and vote for your favourite script!
This event is part of Writers’ Week – an inspiring programme of readings and writing events, a true space for everyone interested in all things writing to come together and celebrate the power of words.
All the events are free of charge but we will be holding bucket collections throughout the week to raise money to support the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal. So not only will you be getting involved in some thought-provoking and interesting events, but you’ll be supporting a humanitarian cause at the same time!
