Street theatre and glorious spreads of food combine in this summer’s great Big Picnic! With free performances and activities for all the family outside in Theatre Square, this is the summer event to bring everyone together again. Come and join us in celebrating the communities of Ipswich and tipping our hats to the Platinum Jubilee! Food and drinks will be provided – although you’re more than welcome to bring your own picnic – and fun is guaranteed.

The Big Picnic runs from 12:30 – 2:30pm.

Throughout this event, there will be:
- face painting
- picnic bags of food with recipe cards
- a roaming magician
- a stall for Suffolk Refugee Sewing Group, with items for sale
- arts and crafts with Rock, Paper, Scissors
- recorded music

Plus:

12:45 – 1:15pm: Unscene Suffolk Choir

1:15 – 1:45pm: The Giant Balloon Show, by Dizzy O’Dare

The Giant Balloon Show will have the audience in stitches and in awe simultaneously. Expect feverous balloon sculptures, high-energy comic performance and of course the all-important giant balloon!

Take everything you know about balloons, add an award-winning entertainer and an 80s soundtrack, and twist that into a highly entertaining show for the whole family.
Audiences have said:
‘That was a master class in entertainment!’
‘Never laughed so much, my jaws are still aching!’
‘That was the greatest show I’ve seen!’
‘Quite simply brilliantly bonkers!’

1:45 – 2:15pm: Cellist/Flautist performing Handel and Croatian and Afghani music, followed by a workshop where participants will learn a Turkish lullaby and ‘Let It Go’ from ‘Frozen.’

The New Wolsey Theatre Café Bar will be open as usual.
