‘Sea Changes’ (reading) – Writers’ Week - New Wolsey Theatre

‘Sea Changes’ (reading) – Writers’ Week

Performed on Sat 25 Jun

An unoccupied metal garden chair sits on a pebbly beach, its back to the waves rolling in.

Writer Marina Jenkyns and Director Jill Patterson have come together with a commitment to making women's life experience more visible on stage. Their own generational difference has invited them to celebrate women at different stages of life.

In 'Sea Changes' we meet Sharon, Maeve and Mair, who offer the opportunity, through interwoven monologues, to identify with women’s experience of loss. Revealing how the telling of stories helps us to move on when tragedy strikes, less through the concept of 'closure' but rather through the healing power of integration which frees us to live with our losses and be more fully ourselves.

This event is part of Writers’ Week – an inspiring programme of readings and writing events, a true space for everyone interested in all things writing to come together and celebrate the power of words.

All the events are free of charge but we will be holding bucket collections throughout the week to raise money to support the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal. So not only will you be getting involved in some thought-provoking and interesting events, but you’ll be supporting a humanitarian cause at the same time!
