“Everything human beings do finishes up bad in the end. Everything good human beings ever make is built on something monstrous. Nothing lasts. We certainly won’t…”

Ferociously funny, complex, contemporary and unnerving, Punk Rock explores the underlying jittery tensions, hormonal headiness and potential violence in a group of affluent, articulate seventeen year-old students as they begin to plan for college and the rest of their lives.

Set to a back drop of confrontational, hard edged Punk Rock, Simon Stephens’ powerful and shattering play explores the volatility of adolescent life, confronts young people as they really are, and builds inexorably towards its tragic and violent climax.

Reviews of Punk Rock

What the press say

Punk Rock is shocking and engaging with its combination of humour and violence. It skillfully manoeuvres through human emotions to portray a believable if somewhat bleak outlook on teenage life.

In Suffok

This many-faceted interpretation gives the Young Company team – and their audiences – an inspiring taste of things to come.
