Presented by Hoipolloi
The Duke received The Scotsman’s Fringe First Award in Edinburgh in 2016 and was produced in aid of the Save the Children’s Child Refugee Crisis Appeal. This appeal has now come to a close however the Crisis continues - as does The Duke. This show will raise funds for Save the Children’s Search and Rescue mission, supporting refugees as they face dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean.
Funny, poignant and playful, The Duke weaves together the tragi-comic fate of a family heirloom - a porcelain figure of The Duke of Wellington, the quandary of a scriptwriter stretching his integrity and an unfolding disaster as thousands of children flee their homes. Blending fantasy and reality, this playful show gently challenges our priorities in a world full of crisis.
This is event has no set price, but you must have a ticket to attend. Pay what you can after the performance and all proceeds will be donated to the Save the Children's Child Search and Rescue Mission.

"A fantastic and likeable storyteller"
"Hugh Hughes is a mesmerising personality… It’s an extraordinary sight, hilarious yet touching in the human fragility it conveys… brilliantly effective in its simplicity."
"A show about a crisis that affects us all... The Duke only mentions refugees three times in the entire hour, and yet does so in a way that draws the crisis closer to home, making it more personal and difficult to ignore... a piece that is constantly questioning what we value and hold dear"
