12pm–2pm: Jazz Bass playing with José Canha

A workshop for bass players who wish to learn to play jazz or to improve what they already know about jazz. Topics will include: general double and electric bass technique, set up and amp adjustment for venue, walking bass lines, playing in a rhythm section, studying a standard, theory and real time re-harmonisation, transcribing and developing your own language/identity and bop improvisation. Tutor José Canha has been playing professionally for over 20 years. He studied Jazz at Escola Superior de Musica de Lisboa and Évora University in Portugal. He performs widely in London, Cambridge, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

Tickets £15 from New Wolsey Theatre. Maximum 15 places.
