Presented by Ipswich Jazz Festival 23rd-25th June 2017

Get your dancing shoes on for a night of lively, Township style Jazz by some great musicians.

In partnership with Peppery Productions,

At the forefront of the African jazz music scene is South African born trumpeter and composer Claude Deppa. Claude has performed with a rich array of contemporary international jazz talent.

Saxophonist Clare Hirst has played with many of the country’s finest jazz musicians. Her experience with such a diverse mixture of musical styles ranging from salsa to reggae to funk and African music, along with a heavy influence from jazz players such as Sonny Rollins and Chick Corea, has created a unique style.

The Clare Hirst Quartet includes acclaimed keyboard player Andrea Vicari, with five albums under her own name. Recently Andrea has performed at the Marlborough Jazz Festival, Teignmouth Jazz and Blues Festival, Stratford Jazz, Shrewsbury Jazz, Scarborough Jazz Festival and The Bulls Head Barnes. Brilliant bassist Dorian Lockett studied at the Guildhall School of Music before playing with major names. He plays on all Andrea Vicari CDs, which he co-produced. Rising star Jordan Hadfield (drums) at only 18 has already played alongside many of the country’s top jazz musicians and has toured Europe and played gigs at the Royal Festival Hall and Kings Place in London.
