Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose return to the New Wolsey Theatre stage for one night only this October with their retro retelling of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. Below are five fantastic reasons why you should give something a little different a try this autumn.
1. You’ll understand the story
Eugene Onegin is sung entirely in English. So, you can easily follow the story, laugh at the funny parts, cry at the sad parts and maybe do a bit of both at the same time!
2. It’s entertaining
Taking inspiration from sources as wide as Pushkin, the British film An Education & the TV series Mad Men, Eugene Onegin will be the perfect entertainment for an autumn’s night – romantic, thought-provoking and moving with some fantastic 1960’s dance moves thrown in for good measure
3. Top notch performances
Eugene Onegin is brought to audiences by a hugely talented cast and creative team. This production received amazing critic reviews, with 5 star reviews in The Times, Observer and The Stage.
4. Get up close
OperaUpClose downsize the opera but not the quality. You’ll get to witness a live, fully-staged opera, complete with phenomenal performances from a cast of ten singers and a four-piece band… up close!
5. It’s affordable
Tickets are available from just £10! The earlier you book, the more chance of grabbing the best seat for the best price. Trying something new doesn’t have to break the bank.
Catch Eugene Onegin only on our stage on Fri 19 Oct, 7:45pm. Tickets at the New Wolsey Theatre are on sale now and can be booked through the Tickets Sales Team by calling 01473 295900 or by booking online
