Familiar Faces return this Spring for Our Blue Heaven

17 Apr 2018 Press Release

New Wolsey Theatre announces the cast of new musical production celebrating Ipswich Town Football Club’s 1978 FA Cup Victory.

The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, today announced its cast for Our Blue Heaven – a new musical production written and Directed by Peter Rowe, Artistic Director, chronicling the 40th Anniversary of Ipswich Town Football Club’s FA Cup win.

Combined with the music hits from that era, Our Blue Heaven was created as the ultimate feel-good show, using the stories and memories of the people of Ipswich and Suffolk; some who attended the FA Cup match and some who didn’t, from the third round victory in Cardiff in January to the final at Wembley in May, and the euphoria of the Victory Parade in Ipswich.

Peter Peverley will be playing the role of Bobby Robson, ITFC’s legendary Manager.  Peter’s many previous theatre credits include The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It at Royal Shakespeare Company. Twelfth Night, Threepenny Opera, Great Expectations, Animal Farm, A Clockwork Orange, Grimms Tales, The Dumb Waiter, Glengarry Glenross, The Snow Queen, Son Of Man and The Little Prince – all for Northern Stage Ensemble.

Steve Simmonds will be returning to Ipswich to play Mick Mills, Captain of the winning ITFC squad. Steve previously appeared in the town in Tommy (New Wolsey Ipswich/Ramps on the Moon), ‘Cortina Man’ in Made In Dagenham (Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch/New Wolsey Ipswich) Aladdin and Guys And Dolls.

We welcome back to New Wolsey Theatre Nicola Bryan, Daniel Carter-Hope, Dan de Cruz and Katia Sartini. The professional cast also includes James Daffern, Josie Dunn, Callum Harrower, Jon House, Joe Leat, Daniel Lloyd, Dale Mathurin and Sarah Whittuck.  New Wolsey Theatre worked in collaboration with Dance East to create a special ensemble for this production (the “Community Chorus”) of local people who had been involved in Dance East workshops.

New Wolsey Theatre has also announced that this production will be designed by Amy Jane Cook, with Lighting and AV Design by Amim Friess, Musical Supervision by Ben Goddard, Sound Design by James Cook and Choreography by Tom Hobden.   The Casting Director was Emily Jones.

The show runs from Fri 4 May until Sat 26 May. A proportion of the costs needed to create this production were raised by public sponsorship in a crowd funding campaign.
