Rob is the Associate Director of the New Wolsey Theatre, where he leads a large number of productions and projects throughout the year that range from small scale work touring to school and community venues (No Ball Games, Every Day an Adventure, Romeo & Juliet), to award winning work with young artists drawn from the New Wolsey Youth Theatre/Young Company/Young Associates (Jack Sheppard, Grimm Tales, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!, Vernon God Little, Party Piece, Frequently Asked Questions). Rob has devised and directed a number of new works for our annual fringe festival, Pulse (Sum, Taken Leave, Fragmenting), as well as directing the New Wolsey hit Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomime (Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, and with Peter Rowe – Jack & the Beanstalk, Aladdin).

After training as an actor at Bretton Hall Rob joined the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme, as a Theatre Practitioner working on the acclaimed Borderlines Project (Face it, Moving Stories, Connexions and Me).

Over the last 12 years Rob has also directed and assisted on productions at The West Yorkshire Playhouse (Carnival Messiah – assisting Mark Tillotson), The Salisbury Playhouse (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Crucible – assisting Caroline Leslie) The Stafford Gatehouse Theatre (Smike, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Guys and Dolls), for MarkMark Theatre Productions (The Famous Five, Meet the Eckerslikes, Swash and Buckle, The Buskateers, Val and Halla), and Theatre by the Lake (Material Girl with Ian Hastings).

Before joining the New Wolsey he established the award winning DT3, a multi-agency theatre project and venue for children and young people at the Dukes Theatre in Lancaster, (The Elephant Man, Polly Honeycombe, Lancaster Tales, The Doctor Will See You Now, Spring Awakening).

Dick Whittington is his 55th production for the New Wolsey Theatre – his next will be a new play ‘When I Grow Up!’ touring to Primary Schools around the region.
