Call Out: Practitioner for Our Country’s Good Schools Workshops

The New Wolsey Theatre is looking for an established D/deaf or disabled theatre practitioner to lead an innovative series of workshops with disabled and non-disabled students in fifteen Suffolk schools over a period of three weeks between Mon 5 and Fri 23 March 2018.

The successful applicant will work alongside a practitioner from the Creative Learning team at the New Wolsey Theatre to plan and deliver practical sessions based on the themes of the A Level and GCSE set text Our Country’s Good and underpinned by thinking and practice around the social model of disability.  Director, actor and practitioner, and NWT Agent for Change, Jamie Beddard will support and lead the team.

This project is funded by Ramps on the Moon, a consortium of theatres led by the New Wolsey Theatre that seeks to redress the under representation and employment of disabled people throughout our industry and to achieve a cultural change to enable accessibility to become a central part of the thinking and aesthetics of the participating venues. The rate of pay is £160 per day plus accommodation and a travel allowance of up to £50 per week.
