Our opening autumn production of It's a Wonderful Life which we presented in association with Avalon Promotions (10 Sept - 3 Oct) has been a huge success, selling 90% of all tickets, smashing its box office targets and attracting 4-star reviews from The Daily Mail and Sunday Times. Read on for what's coming up soon.
Theatre being an artform that is written on the wind, our technical team are now gearing up for a get-out on Sunday before we welcome a number of touring productions, starting on Monday 5 October with three nights of a contemporary new production of The Winter's Tale presented by the renowned Schtanhaus and The Nuffield Theatre Southampton with Headlong Theatre. Next week also sees Spymonkey's Moby Dick (8 - 10 October) which I saw at Northampton's Royal and Derngate Theatre last week. It's an irreverent, high-engergy, bold, imaginative and very, very funny mis-telling of Melville's epic novel. If you like your comedy out of left field, this is certainly something you'll enjoy. Talking of out of left field, at the end of next week, on Sunday 11 October, Hugh Huges makes a return visit to The New Wolsey with his sideways look a life in his new show which went down so well at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 360.
I'm away next week but back on 12 October and will be blogging away again from then.
