To contact us about work placement opportunities please download and complete the form to the right. Please note, there is exceptionally high demand for work experience placements. It may take us some time to respond to your application.
We offer week long placements to young people considering a career in the arts at Key Stage 4 and above in mainstream education who have shown they have the interest, the knowledge and are flexible enough to benefit from work experience here at the Theatre. Specific supported placements are also offered to excluded young people being supported through the Referral Service.
We have split our provision into two distinct offers; General Placements and Department Placements. Both of these placements require the student to be available in the evenings as this is when the shows are on, the whole focus of what we do here at the theatre. If you are not able to do evenings then we cannot accept your application. A Rota will be done a week before the placement is to start with the weeks work experience schedule (and who to report to) and emailed to the student. There will also be some off-site work as we have another space on St George's Street, and some tasks will involve working in town and other venues (marketing etc).
General Placements
These will cover numerous departments in the course of the week and the student will experience an overall taste for the workings of the theatre, how each team works, how we work with each other, as well as what we all do and why!
Department Placements
These are week long placements within a specific department and the student will spend all their time within this team. They will gain a thorough knowledge of their chosen field and will have a very in depth experience of one part of theatre life.
To be able to offer General and Department Placements, we have specified weeks when each team is available to take on a work experience student. (These are set against the next season's activities to ensure we have plenty of activity for the successful applicant).
These are the only dates available! It is likely that there will be numerous applications for the same week and we can only take ONE student per week. Your completed application form will be the initial basis for our decision making, with an interview to follow if we are really overwhelmed with applicants.
