It's a Wonderful Life - a sneak preview

I was privileged to catch a sneak preview of our opening autumn production It's a Wonderful Life in rehearsal  - see what I thought of it and link to a video interview with both the director and the composer of the show from the first week of rehearsals.

I've just come out of the auditorium after seeing a sneak preview run-through of It's a Wonderful Life ahead of the show opening next week (10 Sept - 3 Oct) and I can tell you it packs an emotional punch with haunting melodies that I know are going to stay with me for a long time.  This redemptive tale of a man who, through back luck and circumstance, begins to believe that his life has no value but then is shown what his life would have been like had he not been born and what a positive impace his life has made on those around him, is rich, multi-layered and tears at the heart strings without being unduly sentimental.  Here at the theatre, we can't wait to see the audience reaction on Thursday's opening night.  In today's Guardian Guide, Lyn Gardner has written a preview piece which you can view here

And you can watch a video of rehearsals including interviews with director Peter Rowe and composer Steve Brown by clicking here .
