SEE A VOICE
The See a Voice project was set up by STAGETEXT and VocalEyes, and ran from September 2006 to March 2010.
It was funded by the Treasury’s Invest to Save budget and Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts programme to increase the opportunities for deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, partially sighted and blind people to attend performing arts events. This was achieved by helping venues and companies to offer good quality captioned and audio described performances at a lower cost and promote them to audiences.
Regional theatres were grouped in ‘hubs’, and the New Wolsey worked alongside Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds and Mercury Theatre, Colchester as the See a Voice hub in Suffolk/Essex. We have all come along this journey together and continue to share equipment and offer support.
STAGETEXT and VocalEyes continue to be of great support.
