BBC Radio 3 World Music Award winners ‘Crossing Continents’
Juldeh Camara is an African Master Musician who plays the ritti, a one-stringed fiddle and West African ancestor of the violin. He is undoubtedly one of the leading players of West Africa, and is fine singer and a prolific composer.
Justin Adams has been at the cutting edge of world music alchemy since the 1990's through his work with Jah Wobble, Robert Plant, Lo’Jo and Tinariwen (producing two of their albums). Taking influences from African, Arabic and Irish traditions his distinctive, driving guitar style fuses all of these to his rock and roll and Blues sensibility. The band will be completed with a percussionist as yet unannounced.
Together these great musicians generate dynamic, danceable music influenced by the likes of Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters and Ali Farka Toure.
‘Songs that echo the raw exuberance of the Clash, the rolling blues of Muddy Waters and the delicacy and grandeur of the ancient griot ballads. Magnificent, exhilarating and enthusiastic….’ The Guardian
